Why everyone should be using healing salves over lotion?

Why everyone should be using healing salves over lotion?

The Yogini Beekeeping Witch Goddess wants you to know about her healing salve and why you need to kick the lotions to the curb and make Boomer’s Healing Salve your skin’s best friend.

Why do lotions not work and dry out my skin you ask?

From my witchy perspective most lotions are water and alcohol-based and very low healing ingredients are included in the recipe. Also most lotions are mass-produced and don’t consider the natural cycles and rhythms occurring in nature which effectively help promote healing of skin.

Why do we all need healing salve in our lives, specifically Boomer’s healing salve?

Salves are oil and medicinally plant based which helps keep our largest organ moisturized and initiates the healing response that the skin requires when recovering from injuries.

Boomer’s Healing salve is a topical salve containing local beeswax, Arnica Calendula, Comfrey flower magic and more. Everything is curated on new and full moons to allow the plants to be harvested at the correct times and to sit for long enough to promote the cyclical powers of the moon to be infused into the salve

What can I say about Boomer’s Healing Salve?

To start the Magic comes form the bees!!! These being’s connect to the infinite unlimited potential of mother earth, father universe and grandmother moon. The bees collect nectar to create honey but they also create wax via their wax glands located underneath there abdomen, in order to make and secrete this magical substance it requires a lot of honey and even more nectar. Approximately, to make one pound of beeswax, bees must consume roughly 6 to 8 pounds of honey. Since nectar is the raw material used to create honey, the amount of nectar required is even greater. An estimated 30 million flowers must be visited to produce one pound of beeswax.  It takes 8 lbs of honey to create 1 lb of wax. So, it is really hard to explain in words the medicinally ancient properties within the structure of honey and wax that is created inside the honey bee and it’s home. What a magnificent being. Their beeswax is anti-fungal, antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, anti-microbial and so much more than these labels entail. It is great at healing wounds, it is great at fighting infections and releasing pain. So when you add the beeswax to the powers of comfrey oil, calendula oil and arnica oil, plus the sunflower oil and jojoba oil the flowers are infused into you are talking about a synergy of healing magic going into this amazing salve. So let’s heal our largest organ so we can live pain free and continue to heal the world.

Why is Arnica, Comfrey, and Calendula flowers used in Boomer’s healing Salve?

Arnica, is a Colorado perennial. And this specific healing plant came into my life because my acupuncturist one day, years ago after several ankle injuries, she mentioned that it helps with healing bruises and promotes wound healing.(Reminder to all: save your ankles, don’t text and walk, lol.) And sure enough this CBD lotion I was using at the time had arnica oil added in the recipe. Turns out arnica is also Anti-inflammatory, anti-oxidant, anti-microbial, it can reduce pain and swelling and helps alleviate bug bites.

Calendula, a self-seeding beauty that provides as much healing from its visual stimulation as it does from the medicinal properties that live inside. Known for being anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidant to promote skin healing, improve hydration.  It helps accelerate wound healing, reduces irritation from skin conditions such as eczema and diaper dermatitis, and provides antioxidant protection for the skin.

Comfrey is an ancient medical plant used to heal broken bones and it is also a perennial and nitrogen fixer and being the beekeeping permaculturist that I am, I knew it was a plant that I would love and use forever, plus, the bees love the nectar from their cute purple trumpet flowers and bumble bees love to set up home in the stock of the plants.  It is an anti-inflammatory and promotes skin healing via the active compound, allantoin, which promotes cell proliferation, helping to regenerate skin tissue and speed up the healing of minor cuts, scrapes, bruises, burns, and abrasions. Reduces scarring, by stimulating cell turnover. Plus, Comfrey can soothe sunburned skin by reducing inflammation and creating a protective barrier that helps with moisture retention, which can prevent peeling.

It was a no brainer to why these 3 medical plants/flowers made the ingredient list.

What’s with The moon and Boomer’s healing salve?

My idea behind curating the salves on new moons and fall moons coincides with the idea of the powers of the moon on plants and how it is primarily linked to the ancient practice of lunar gardening, which suggests planting and other gardening tasks are influenced by the moon’s phases through its gravitational pull on tides and light effects. And being a witch, I knew it was best to connect to the lunar cycle and create a ritual on new moons and full moons, so the salves can embody the essence of each lunar phase. As humans, if we are 60% water it makes sense to tap into the lunar pull and create the connection of the infinite as above, so below, as within, so without.

Tell me why Boomer’s healing salve is so damn soft and thick?

To thicken up the Sauce I knew I needed more than the oils and coconut oil just wasn’t going to cut it.

Beef Tallow is anti-inflammatory, and anti-fungal. Beef tallow is rich in fatty acids, including oleic acid, Linoleic acid, and stearic acid, which help to hydrate and moisturize the skin. It penetrates deep into the skin layers, providing long-lasting moisture. It is soothing and creates a protective barrier around the skin. Also, high in antioxidants like Vitamin A, D, K, E & B12 which improves skin elasticity, and reduces fine lines and wrinkles plus,  promotes skin regeneration because it is similar to our skin’s natural sebum.

Shea butter deeply moisturizes and softens the skin by creating a protective barrier that locks in moisture. Its anti-inflammatory properties can soothe and calm irritated skin, making it beneficial for conditions like eczema and dryness. Rich in antioxidants such as vitamins A and E, shea butter also helps fight signs of aging by protecting against free radical damage and boosting collagen production for more supple skin.

Why Avocado oil?

I needed more oil in the recipe and I had ordered to much avocado oil. So it was kind of added into the recipe out of pure abundance. However little did I know Avocado is a moisturizing power house of fruit!! It is anti-microbial, anti-inflammatory, plus jammed packed with antioxidants like vitamin E, lutein, and Beta-carotene, which protects the skin from free radical damage. It contains fatty-acids just like beef tallow, mainly oleic acid and Linoleic acid, which help to lock in moisture and improve skin elasticity. Plus, Avocado oil contains collagen boosting properties like phytosterols, which helps improve skin firmness, elasticity and reduces the appearance of of fine lines and wrinkles. Promotes wound healing, helps reduce scarring and improve overall skin appearance.
