About Us

A Boom Life is your home for the High Permaculture Entrepreneur Podcast and Lifestyle Blog created by Guy and Traci Mitchell.

We are entrepreneurs, permaculturists and partners in this game we like to call life who love to get high. We consider High Permaculture Entrepreneurs to be anyone who runs their own business or works a fulfilling job and loves marijuana. A High Permaculture Entrepreneur also applies sustainable and rejuvenating systems into their life and businesses day to day operations. A High Permaculture Entrepreneur might be a farmer but is definitely someone who enjoys growing their own food and supports their local small businesses.

Founders of Boom Inc, Traci and Guy Mitchell Jr. are young Permaculture Entrepreneurs making an impact on the local microgreens industry. Go checkout their Micro Farm ~ Mile High Micro Greens

Are you a High Permaculture Entrepreneur?

Are you are a person living and working their dream job but also taking time out for yourself, your family, friends and your community to optimize your life and the people around you? Are you looking for a way to expand your resources by following your passion in life everyday? Then this blog is our way of sharing the information we acquire that enhances the way we do business and the way we do life in hopes that it will help you boom your life too!!

A High Permaculture Entrepreneur doesn’t have to own their own business but certainly has a side hustle and is living the dream when it comes to waking up and pursuing exactly how they want to live life each day. We believe that in order to truly reach our potential as an entrepreneur one must apply and incorporate indigenous farming based principles into their daily routine. Whether it’s implementing composting at work or at home, doing a neighborhood weekly trash clean-up, planting a pollinator patch in your garden, growing your own microgreens, working with local business owners and/or by giving back to the community you live in. If you can add sustainable practices into your life and work you are for sure a High Permaculture Entrepreneur.

We are on a mission to make permaculture popular, restore land and give credit to where credit is due to Indigenous people worldwide.

We own 35 acres in southeast Agate, Colorado. We purchased this parcel of land in 2013 and have been implementing prairie restoration and sustainable initiatives for the last 7 years. We have dug 3 swales with many more to come, implemented a rain catchment system, compost humanure on site and have an overflow pond that feeds a swale to our zone 1 perennial garden. We have planted over 100 different plants ranging form Colorado natives to perennial nitrogen fixers and bare root trees with more to be planted in the coming years.

Skipping ahead to 2019 we moved back to Denver to expand our Boom Inc. empire, We bought our city-house and started our Mile High Micro Greens in hopes to provide nutrient dense microgreens to the community and local chefs. We want to build a Permaculture community and help people see how easy it is to connect with nature and grow their own food again for themselves, friends and family.

Permaculture isn’t just about sustainable methods and rejuvenating agriculture but it can reach across all faucets of life in terms of how one approaches their day to day tasks and all around business operations. Permaculture also involves living a mindful life not just in creating positive impacts in our community and the environment but also maximizing our potential as individuals.

Moving forward into 2020 our micro greens farming took an unexpected hit with COVID shutting down all the restaurants and we went from 30 restaurants to 4. We were able to stay open and ride the wave with residential orders and a few chefs supporting us. With expenses high and the time commitment needed we decided to turn off the 24/7 microgreens grow-operation in Late November of 2020 and focus on our other passions like Snowboarding, Hiking, Woodworking, Farming outside and Beekeeping. However, we still grow microgreens for ourselves in our home-office. Mile High Microgreens is no longer operational but we did write an ebook on how to grow microgreens, in fact, you can download it for free if you have kindle unlimited or it is just $9.99. Heading in to 2021, Boom sports has been able to operate at full capacity and it feels good to be back coaching all the kiddos. Guy has been able to focus on establishing his first few woodworking clients for Carbon Based Designs. He does it all form custom end-grain cotton boards, end pieces, Magnetic Knife holders, Built-Ins, Kitchen Islands, Coffee Tables, and Outdoor “Farm” Tables. Send him a message for a free quote on your Custom Furniture Idea. As for Traci, she started her apprenticeship in beekeeping where she has gone from stewarding 3 hives to 20 hives. With this blog our aim is to make farming cool again, destigmatize cannabis, popularize homesteading concepts, help entrepreneurs discover their path by connecting them with their passions, mindfulness techniques and adopting permaculture business methods and strategies. We believe the way you approach nature is ultimately how you approach life so by connecting with nature everyday and apply permaculture concepts to life and business like closed loop systems, stacking functions and many more we will all be living richer more fulfilled healthy lives.

2022 zoomed by. Traci attempted beekeeping with out chemical treatments. She went from 20 hives down to 3 by the end of the season. Treamtent and Chemical beekeeping is basically keeping bees alive but at what cost to the quality of the honey and wax. She is excited to catch swarms this year in 2023 and attempt another chemical free treatment free beekeeping season. The only thing I like to add into my colonies is probiotics and bananas. Also in 2022, Guy crushed our home renovations. He remodeled our bathroom and turns into a step in shower and made a bespoke white oak vanity for the bathroom cabinet and sink. He also renovated our kitchen and updated everything, it is my dream kitchen and I will be forever grateful for his talents and skills. He built a bunch of mantles and did a custom fireplace cabinet too. In 2023, he is looking forward to turning his work van into an adventure van , it will be available for purchase mid august. He also has already completed a kitchen renovation and is currently working on a white oak farm table for a clients’ dining room table. Go check his bespoke woodworking site Carbon Based Designs and you can purchase a charcuterie board, magnetic knife holder, coffee table, and or end table that is available.

This is not your average permaculture blog. This is not your basic entrepreneur advice blog. This blog will teach you not only about swales and basic SEO strategy, but also tips and tricks to growing weed in your backyard, the ins and out of Sustainable homes, plus ideas on building your social media presence. And other cool permaculture entrepreneur shit like Water catchment design, making your own Apple Cider Vinegar, and how to write your own ebook and launch it successfully. We will breakdown many other permaculture based principals and ideas but what we are most excited about as young entrepreneurs is not just running multiple successful small based local businesses but hopefully guiding to down your own path of self discovery and opening you up to the wonderful word of owning your life as a high permaculture entrepreneur.

What else can we tell you about ourselves?

We are also youth sports coaches and we think coaching kiddos for the last 14 years with our own business @boomsportskids has empowered us with natural patience to work hard at anything we put our minds too. Patience is a super important quality when it comes to permaculture in knowing that you might not enjoy the fruits of your labor with every project you implement. Understanding the enjoyment is in the journey and the process not the destination is one thing that we try to remember everyday on this earth.
