Take 5 for Friday / 3-9-18
Take 5 for Friday 3-9-18 (sorry we didn’t post last weeks Take 5, we were having too much Fun in Whistler and to be honest the sunrises from the village were not anything spectacular with the massive mountains blocking the light changes but still a beautiful place to visit, next time we will have to do a morning hike to get the good good!!
(1) Podcasts of the Week:
– Joe Rogan Experience: 3/6/18 MMA SHOW #16 with Brendan Schaub to discuss this past weekend’s fights. We watched them and it was a great Card. Cyborg is at the scariest Woman alive. I feel bad for any woman who has to step in the cage with her.
3/6/18 #1088 w/ Bryan Callan who is an actor and stand-up comedian, and together with Brendan Schaub he also hosts “The Fighter & The Kid” podcast. We love the talks where Joe is with his Friends, he opens up and shares whatever the F$!@ is on his mind.
3/7/18 #1089 w/ John Dudley, who is a pro archer and host of “Nock On TV.” Check out his podcast “Nock On” available on iTunes. Great talk and they get into lots of different topics, this is not just a talk about archery.
– Bill Burr’s Monday Morning Podcast: 3/5/18 Bill Sits down with musicians Al Jourgensen – go have a listen you won’t regret it.
– Tribe of Mentors with Tim Ferris: 12/21/2017 – Adam Robinson – The power of the (unconscious) mind
– The Permaculture Podcast with Scott Mann: #1803 – Jacqueline Smith: Animal Agriculture, Regenerative Enterprise, and Central Grazing Company – In this episode guest host David Bilbrey sits down with Jacqueline Smith, the founder of Central Grazing Company, to talk about her entry into the world of animal agriculture, after having no previous experience with farming or even family ties to a farm or the land.
(2) Shows we Netlflix binge on and you should too:
Big Mouth -an American adult animated sitcom created by Nick Kroll, Andrew Goldberg, Mark Levin, and Jennifer Flackett based on Kroll and Goldberg’s tweenage years growing up in the Westchester, New York, with Kroll voicing his fictional self. Plus There is a hormone monster and monstress that guides that characters to make their decisions in life. It is very funny but here is your warning you have to have a pretty gross and crude sense of humor.
Ugly Delicious – A great f$!%ing food show. All the flavor. None of the BS. Star chef David Chang leads friends on a mouthwatering, cross-cultural hunt for the world’s most satisfying grub. Starring: David Chang, Peter Meehan.
(3)Youtube Find of the Week:
JRE Toons – animated highlights of super funny moments and Stories from the podcasts. Every toon with Joey Diaz is hilarious and his gross stories are only better with the animations and my favorite one so far is the Harry The Pipe Tree moment <https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fv7pry8P4AI>
(4)Stuff we learned on our Whistler, Canada Trip: Whistler Village is awesome; Exchange rate is better for US dollars, so it was great to save money on literally everything. Canadians are super nice!!! We made friends with locals the first day and basically had a tour guide around the place for a few of the days. Whistler and Blackcomb mountain are Super Fun and HUGE, definitely for the more advanced riders and to compare these 2 mountains, it felt like all 5 of our Colorado mountains put together ( A. Basic, Keystone, Breckenridge, Vail and Beaver Creek). Vancouver is beautiful and didn’t realize it was on the coast of Canada so get ready for some amazing views, especially if you are on your way to Whistler like we were because you take an epic trip on the sea to sky highway.
(5)Projects going down @theboomstead: Chooks laying eggs on the reg now and the dog-waterer gone chicken-waterer is working great, check out our chicken waterer review if you missed it this week!!! – We picked up a bunch of free soil from a grow-op downtown yesterday to beef up our shitty soil on our land, (another great find on craigslist). – Guy built the Gates when we got back from Canada this past saturday. We will add the soil and get a truck load of a compost mix delivered here in the coming weeks. We are going to order 16 tons but share some with our neighbors. – We also added and topped off the soil at our Parker Landing Daycare Boom Perma Garden beds for preschoolers. – Today we are headed to Boulder to pick up a 1500 gallon cistern for a great deal of $400 (also found on craigslist) This weekend we will play in the garden and prep it for some wild flower seeds and cover crop seeds we ordered, we are loving this springish weather, that is for damn sure!!!!
Boom Every Day!!
