5 tips for using Fiverr.com (And How I Used Fiverr to Illustrate My First Children’s Book)

Fiverr.com is an awesome free-lance entrepreneur website for all your business and graphic design artist needs. The reason it is called Fiverr is for the idea that “hey if I throw you a $5, can you do this job for me” – Not every job will cost you $5, prices vary depending on the job. Funnel through their categories from graphics and design, digital marketing, writing and translation, video and animation, music and audio, programming and tech, business and fun & lifestyle to find the perfect candidate to do the job at the price you want.

I used Fiverr last year to find an illustrator for my children’s book The Mysterious ABC Seed, I had wrote the book a few years back on a road trip that was just sitting stored away in a file on my computer. On another road trip, I remember hearing about fiverr and when I came to the realization that I didn’t need be the illustrator in order to create my vision, and you don’t either. Fiverr was there to help me accomplish my design goals for my book and it can do the same for you.

After using Fiverr for the first time, here are 5 tips to get the most out of your Artists and Fiverr.com Experience:

(1)Come with a clear idea of what you are wanting to accomplish out of the project. i.e a Synopsis of your book or design, and style wants and needs, etc.

(2) Pick an artists that communicates and gets back to you promptly. A lot of the artists may not work in the same state or even the same time zone or country – that is why it is important for you to find someone who communicates they way you want and remember communications is two way street – be prompt and thorough in your replies too.

(3) Set a budget per page and stick with it. I knew I could afford $10 – $20 per page – so that is exactly what I searched for. Illustrators willing to work within my budget.

(4) Find an artist that will do unlimited edits. Make sure your price per page includes unlimited edits, to ensure you are completely satisfied with your final product. Nothing is worse than paying for the same job twice.

(5) Pick 2 to 5 artists to draw the first page of your story to help you compare styles to pick the best artist that has captured your vision to finish the rest of the job. Not every design job will need this comparison, you will save some money if you take the time to search through your bids and find the exact artist/designer you are needing for the job on the first go around.

(6)Saving Money Bonus Tip – You can save a lot of money by only asking for  black and white with your illustrations. Only do this f you have the ability to add the color your self, that saved me a lot of money, my artist was going to charge me double for color.

Hope this helps you take the leap to go for it on using fiverr for your design needs and booming your life!

Have a booming Day!
