A Boom Biography: Wim Hoff – The Iceman

A Boom Biography: Wim Hoff – The Iceman

If you don’t know who Wim Hoff is I am not sure WTF you have been doing, but this man says “he is not of this world, but only human” and I believe him, he performs like no other human. He holds 26 world records including one for longest ice bath (1 hour, 52 minutes, and 42 seconds), hiking Mount Everest (almost reached the summit, but turned back due to injured foot) and Mount Kilimanjaro (reached summit in 2 days) wearing nothing but shorts and shoes. Hof completed a marathon above the arctic circle in Finland with temperatures close to −20 °C (−4 °F) again dressed in nothing but shorts and Hof finished in 5 hours and 25 minutes. He even ran a marathon in the desert without drinking any water.

And the extreme Dutch athlete’s list of achievements goes on, but the trick to it all has proven to be his breathing technique he has coined “The Wim Hof Method” There has been lots of research done by Universities studying and discovering the science behind his method and now there is even an app for it on the apple and google play stores so we can all start training like Wim ASAP.

He has been on the Joe Rogan Experience podcast/show twice to share his stories and teach others about how his breathing technique can change your life. Click here to Go watch or listen to the episodes now: Wim Hof Episode 712 Or Episode 865   Both episodes are awesome, and are highly recommended podcasts for booming your life, changing your perspective, and amping up your daily routine.

Keep in mind, his breathing technique is not just for the endurance athlete; the Wim Hof Method is for anyone needing and wanting to Boom all aspects of their health.  By learning his ways, you Increase the oxygen in your body and increase the alkalinity in all of your cells. The theory behind this, is an acidic body leads to poor performance,  tiredness, slow cellular regeneration and the underlying cause of a lot of diseases. So by applying his breathing techniques, mind focus and cold submersions/shower routine you are amplifying your bodies ability to recover and ultimately perform at its highest ability.

To my understanding, his breathing technique works because by increasing your oxygen intake and retention ability your body holds on to more oxygen and allows you to not get tired as quickly, keep yourself warmer with better blood flow and tap into a higher consciousness, allowing your circulatory, autonomic, endocrine, and respiratory systems to perform at optimum levels.

We have only used the app twice, but we are excited to make it apart of our daily routine.
