Back pain and the power of Yoga
One day or another we all face back pain; whether it’s from incorrect posture, improper movements, repetitive movements on joints or muscles and/or a disc injury, some have it worse than others. Nearly 1 in 3 adults in the US suffers from some form of joint problem . Back pain can be so bad some resort to prescription drugs and powerful pain meds which has been reported that pharmaceutical drugs kill more people every year than are killed in traffic accidents. So not only do the drugs provide just temporary relief they are quite dangerous and can lead to addiction. To avoid this risk and the expensive doctor visit there are few things you can do on your own to provide back pain relief. However, some back problems are worse than other so don’t deny your practitioner the visit if you need it.
There are 2 things your body needs EVERYDAY that will help loosen up your back and avoid unwanted and unnecessary back pain that only takes less than 15 minutes.
THING#1 A Daily regime of nutritional supplementation (less than 1 minute)
Our bodies need a spectrum of vitamins and minerals everyday not just to avoid catching a cold and feel good, but to protect ourselves from oxidative stress, free radical damage and many other processes leading to cell, tissue/ organ damage and ultimately degenerative disease. Our backs our just one of the many parts of our body that rely on vitamins and minerals to remain and optimal health.
A few examples of what nutritional supplements do for your back and joints:
- Vitamin D deficiency can weaken the muscular and skeletal systems.
- Glucosamine sulfate clinically proven to help maintain healthy cartilage and joints.
- Vitamin C and manganese, and silicon provide additional nutrition essential for joint health from collagen formation to ultimately cartilage composition.
THING#2 10-14+ mins of yoga a day
Yoga is important for reducing back pain and improving movement and function; reduce lower back pain with special yoga exercises for back problems. Often times when done correctly you can heal your lower back completely. Many times all the back needs is a little regular exercise. Even just 10 minutes a day. With just a little effort and some experimentation you can find exactly how to exercise your back and reduce the pain or become pain free. Choose an exercise program that is not too intense. Slowly increase the intensity of stretches and strengthening exercises to prevent aggravation in the spine. There may be a little back pain after exercises but don’t be put of. Try again at less intensity. Choosing the right Yoga for back pain will strengthen the spine and increase flexibility. This is necessary for support and greater range of motion.
A cheap way to introduce yourself to yoga and get familiar with exercise is the internet. Google “protecting your back with yoga” and an array of yoga advice will be at your finger tips. A great website I have found is Yogi’s Mark Giubarelli. He has practiced for over 15 years and has taught over 5000 classes. He helps over 1/2 million people a year with his website http://www.yogacards.com. Here is the direct link to his page on yoga for back pain:
These 2 things are more than just simple step to back relief but these to things will change your heath for life. Do these 2 things: provide cellular nutrition and be active and the last thing on your mind will be how to reduce your back pain.
